ExpoSalud 2026, which will take place November 10–12 at Espacio Riesco, will include a talk titled “Chile’s Health Challenges by 2030” as part of its Health Management Conference program. The event will feature Dr. Enrique Paris as moderator and three specialists who will analyze the changes the Chilean healthcare system needs to undergo to meet the needs of the coming decades.
“How can we build a health system that better meets people’s needs? That is the question that will bring us together at the session on Chile’s health challenges by 2030,” says Paris, who will lead the discussion. The former Minister of Health from 2020 to 2022 adds that the event will provide an opportunity to discuss the changes needed to improve healthcare in the country.
Presentations will be given by Héctor Sánchez, executive director of the Institute of Public Health at Andrés Bello University (UNAB); Jorge Acosta, executive director of the Institute for Public Health Policy at San Sebastián University (IPSUSS); and Carolina Velasco, director of the Social Affairs Division at Libertad y Desarrollo.
Acosta will present “The Future of Health Guarantees: Coverage, Efficiency, and Governance for the Next 20 Years.” His presentation will address the evaluation of the Explicit Health Guarantees (GES) system, efficiency in the use of hospital wards and the healthcare network, as well as the role of the Ministry of Health’s National Health Council and the Healthcare Network Efficiency Council.
For her part, Velasco will speak on “The Future of Health Insurance in Chile: Fonasa, Isapres, Financial Protection, and Effective Access.” Her presentation will examine the challenges facing the public insurer and the private health insurance companies (Isapres), along with financial protection for users and the relationship between insurers and providers.
Sánchez will address “Transforming Healthcare in Chile: Sustainability, Public Response, and Sectoral Agreements.” The presentation will emphasize the structural reforms needed to improve the system’s financing, efficiency, and productivity, as well as the public’s expectations regarding providers and health coverage.
The goal, according to Paris, is to open a conversation about the future of healthcare and the measures needed to improve the system’s response. “We will discuss the future of healthcare in our country and the changes we need to move toward more timely and high-quality care,” he says. The moderator adds that the session will address “the main challenges facing our healthcare system.”
The event will take place on Wednesday, November 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., as part of ExpoSalud 2026. Participation in the talk is free once a general admission ticket to the fair has been purchased; the ticket costs $10,000 plus a $595 service fee. The ticket grants access to the event throughout its three days and includes the Health Management Conference. Tickets are available on the official ExpoSalud website.
